The new rolling mill enables LY Steel to produce high-quality, ultra-thin silicon steel and positions the company amongst the leaders in the Chinese electrical steel market.
Primetals’ 20-High HZ rolling mill at LY Steel has rolled the first coil of silicon steel for applications in the new energy sector. According to Primetals, the rolling mill enables stable and high-performance production of ultra-thin, high-quality silicon steel. The new production line provides LY Steel with a solid foundation for the manufacture and development of grain-oriented (GO) silicon steel with high magnetic induction and high-quality non-grain-oriented (NGO) silicon steel.
According to Primetals, the HZ rolling mill is an innovative ZR rolling stand with a split housing, which offers several advantages over conventional ZR rolling mills: The large roll gap facilitates strip threading and enables a smooth restart following strip breaks. The flexible configuration of the roll diameter meets a wide range of production requirements, whilst the Double-AS-U flatness control ensures stable rolling and increased productivity. As almost the entire range of work rolls can be utilised regardless of the diameter of the support rolls, operational flexibility is further enhanced.
