Successful relaunch of trade fairs in China: Düsseldorf’s leading trade fair, THERMPROCESS, made its debut in Shanghai

The international trade fair THERMPROCESS China celebrated its debut as part of wire and Tube China from 23 to 26 September 2020 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). In a 500-square-metre themed pavilion – alongside the equally new Saw EXPO China – around 20 companies showcased their technological innovations.

The pavilion was organised by Chinese and international partners, in cooperation with Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai. German companies from the thermal processing technology sector received official support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) for their participation in the trade fair. As part of a joint ‘German Pavilion’ stand offering attractive terms, industry leaders such as Aichelin Holding GmbH/Noxmat, EMAG eldec Induction GmbH, Karl Dungs GmbH & Co. KG, WS-Wärmeprozesstechnik GmbH, Himmelwerk Hoch- und Mittelfrequenzanlagen GmbH and Optris GmbH took part in the ‘German Pavilion’ joint stand on favourable terms, in order to establish a presence in China, the most important growth market. International exhibitors at THERMPROCESS China included well-known names such as Guangdong Shunde Seko Machinery & TechnologyY Co., Ltd., Handuk R-Feco Co., Ltd., Huzhou Zhongrui Precision Technology Co., Ltd., Industrial Heating, Tianchang Filet High Tech Metals Co., Ltd. and Wieland Electric Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

The relaunch of the trade fair business in China following the COVID-19-related lockdown was a success: well-attended halls ensured an excellent atmosphere amongst the 1,650 exhibitors at wire, Tube, THERMPROCESS and Saw EXPO China. Over the course of four days, some 36,000 visitors came to find out about industry trends and topics. They benefited from the numerous synergies offered by having the four specialist trade fairs in one location. “In every hall, you could sense that the trade fair business is taking off again. Naturally, this was done in compliance with our hygiene and infection control measures, which were agreed with the authorities,” says Gerrit Nawaracala, Project Director for Metallurgy & Foundry Technologies, with delight. “The Chinese market for the specific segment of metallurgy is booming, and there was great interest among our THERMPROCESS exhibitors in presenting their products and services in the growing Chinese market – despite the difficult travel conditions. Our decision to host the trade fair for thermal process technology, organised by the Düsseldorf-based GMTN trade fair quartet, alongside the leading trade fairs wire and Tube China, was rewarded by the consistently positive response at the exhibition stands throughout all four days.”

From industrial furnaces, industrial heat treatment systems and thermal processes, through to components, equipment and other accessories, right up to control systems, automation, heating elements, heat-insulating and refractory materials, industrial gas generation, measuring instruments, testing technology, consultancy, services and engineering: The international trade fair and symposium THERMPROCESS covered the entire spectrum of thermal process technology and brought together international equipment suppliers with experts and decision-makers from the machine-building industry, the metal, foundry, automotive, aerospace and other major industrial sectors.

The next THERMPROCESS China trade fair, alongside wire, Tube China and Saw EXPO China, will take place from 26 to 29 September 2022 in Shanghai.
